About Me
Background
I’ve been in the glass and glazing sector of the construction and building products industry for nearly 15 years. There’s an ongoing joke in our industry that once you’re in it, you can never leave. And while there’s definitely some truth to that, because almost all of us are “in it for the long haul”, I think it’s because none of us actually want to leave. We like glass and metal too much. And we all stare up at buildings for way too long.
As a sales representative, I like to call on my previous “non-sales” experience to provide valuable feedback and information for customers and architects. I've worked in the trenches of the glazing industry on the contractor side of the business, and I think that gives me a unique perspective when working with customers and project influencers.
When making product application recommendations, I take into consideration the building access, long term maintenance, ease of fabrication and/or installation, material handling, and site logistics. All of these make a HUGE difference in the success of the bottom line for your project, which is why I think important to have these conversations as early on as possible.
Experience
Glazing Contractor: Engineer & Project Manager
After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in Architectural Engineering, I spent five years working for J.R. Butler Inc, a glazing contractor in Denver, where I gained extensive industry knowledge as both a Project Engineer and Project Manager for contracts involving anything from storefront to unitized curtainwall, and everything in between. During this time, I obtained a Professional Engineer’s (PE) license from the State of Colorado, and received an incredible education from my employer on personal values, leadership, and ethics.
Window Manufacturer: Architectural Sales Manager
The next five and a half years I spent working as an Architectural Sales Manager for Wausau Window and Wall Systems, a manufacturer of commercial windows & curtainwall systems. I started my sales journey in the northeast (Upstate NY, MA, CT, VT), transferring later to the midwest for a couple of years (CO, UT, NM), before finally getting the opportunity I wanted all along: a major metropolitan area with warm weather, beaches, and plenty of challenge and adventure (SoCal, HI). This diverse experience across three very distinct territories enabled me to sharpen my interpersonal skills, and come up with a successful, repeatable sales process for long-term, top and bottom-line organic growth.
Architectural Insider: Independent Sales Representative
I’m constantly searching for the next challenge, and the desire to move towards becoming an Independent Representative was mounting for quite some time. I needed to broaden my skillset and expand my technical knowledge into different sub-sectors of our industry. So in the fall of 2018, I started Architectural Insider, LLC with the goal to change our industry’s paradigm of what a sales representative can bring to the table. I strive to do this by utilizing my technical background as both a glazier and an engineer to provide technical expertise, extensive industry knowledge and experience, and a passion for delivering unrivaled customer service.
I always try to keep an open mind about new ways of learning, thinking, or accomplishing objectives, because I believe that’s where the fun of it all lives: between the progress and the process.
